Welcome

It's cutting them loose and having the pack run the rabbit until it gives up and goes in a hole or gets caught. And although the dogs usually don't catch it, they run like they want to. Just me and my pack of hounds, in any condition, on any day, in the roughest places I can find . . .

Justice for a Coyote

Ray Smalley has been having trouble with coyotes bothering his dogs at one of his running spots. When things got out of hand, he took it to them  and justice was served. This is one coyote that won't be around to kill or injure any beagles in the future.

I have been fortunate to not have problems with coyotes. In this situation, a den was located right in the area where Ray was running. It seems like this is the key factor in causing them to get mean and attack dogs. Once coyotes start to get after beagles, this is the only solution. Luckily Ray got this one before it could harm any of his dogs.

  1. You are so right. I didn't realize how bold and protective they are of their den. But, I know now. That revolver will probably be on me when I run dogs from now on.
    Thanks

  2. I will have to watch what I say if you are going to start to carry a gun. No more trips south for you.

  3. I'm sure it would take more than a gun to get you to be nice to me :)
