It's cutting them loose and having the pack run the rabbit until it gives up and goes in a hole or gets caught. And although the dogs usually don't catch it, they run like they want to. Just me and my pack of hounds, in any condition, on any day, in the roughest places I can find . . .

It's Always Fun When Bubba Comes to Run

Last night, Mark Brown, aka Bubba came down to run for a few hours.  Mark, the Old Man, and I headed down to a big clearcut to run some dogs for a while.  The dogs ran almost nonstop for about 3 1/2 hours, but I didn't really hear them.

The best thing about running when Mark comes down is being with him.  He is one of the smartest guys I have ever met.  He is also one of the most opinionated guys I have ever met.  And he sure is entertaining.  He can talk about anything and he does.  He will challenge anything you say, and he does.  He will argue to argue and he argues and argues and argues.

Somewhere in the background, the dogs ran great.  They ran rabbit after rabbit.  They really didn't have many checks, but who would know.  You can't run with Bubba and think about the dogs.  He has opinions about everything and he shares them with everyone.  He sure makes it interesting.  He is one of the most knowledgeable guys about every topic under the sun that I have ever met and he doesn't mind sharing what he knows.

I really think Chip ran well last night.  Am I sure?  Heck no!  I really think that Hot Head ran well last night.  Am I sure?  Heck no!  For sure though, we had some interesting conversation.  I can't wait until the next time Bubba comes to run.

I ran Chip and Jed.  The old man ran Hot  Head.  Mark Brown ran Dollar and Huck
